Division of
Property and Debts Under Colorado law, property and debts are to be divided
equitably, which does not necessarily mean equally. The attorneys at
Bloch & Chapleau make it their mission to ensure that all of the
relevant factors are taken into consideration in determining whether the
property is marital or separate, what the property’s value is, and how
that property should be divided, fairly, between the parties.
Custody/Parenting Time In Colorado the best interests of the child determines
custody/parental responsibilities, which include decision-making
authority and parenting time. In situations where the best interests are
in dispute, it is common for the Court to appoint either a child and
family investigator or a custody evaluator to provide recommendations
concerning what is in the best interest of the children. The attorneys
at Bloch & Chapleau are both experienced and skilled in demonstrating to
the court why our client is in the better position to care for the
children. This is accomplished by working closely with the professionals
appointed by the Court, working with the client as the case progresses
and persuasively presenting your case to the judge.
Alimony/Maintenance Maintenance is based upon a party’s inability to support him or
herself through appropriate employment and the disparity of income
between the parties. The law is gender neutral, and the attorneys at
Bloch & Chapleau have successfully obtained and defended maintenance
awards for their clients. Bloch and Chapleau has worked very hard at
obtaining maintenance orders which are fair, of reasonable duration and
which impose on the recipient spouse a duty to improve their income
abilities.
Child Support Colorado’s child support statute applies a formula taking into
account each parent’s gross income, daycare and health insurance
expenses. Bloch and Chapleau focuses on ensuring that the proper figures
are used to calculate the child support obligation.
Prenuptial
Agreements The contract of marriage may be the most important contract a
person enters during their lifetime. Colorado law is precise in what
couples may legally do to bind themselves prior to a marriage. The
attorneys at Bloch & Chapleau can help you create an agreement that will
protect your hard-earned assets from being taken from you and to take
the inherent risk of the unknown out of the divorce process.
Paternity Genetic testing is important to establish the biological
relationship with the child and the subsequent responsibilities that
accompany a positive match. Bloch & Chapleau has extensive experience in
paternity cases.
